Arts & culture branding for Wyndham City

Town Square was commissioned by Wyndham City Council to develop the strategy and brand identity to represent and underpin its Arts, Events and Culture Venues across the region.

Wyndham City is among Australia’s most diverse and fastest-growing local government areas.

Recognising the critical role played by arts and culture in creating community cohesion and a sense of belonging for everyone who calls Wyndham home, Town Square has been commissioned to bring a new level of clarity and coherence to the impressive portfolio of festivals, events, visual and performing arts productions, venues and programs that populate the arts and culture calendar in Wyndham.

By developing a universal identity for all diverse elements of the arts and culture ecosystem, this project will enable Wyndham locals to better engage with arts and culture within their community – and encourage those from further afield (visitors, suppliers, partners, creative industries and artists themselves) to appreciate the scope of Wyndham’s arts and culture delivery.

The umbrella brand, Creative Wyndham, was inspired by artistic expression and the freedom to create. Reminiscent of a brushstroke, musical note and the movement of body and form. The logo is designed to be its own distinct mark while sharing a similar sense of flow to the Wyndham City logo. While a dynamic identity system allows the brand to both underpin the Wyndham City arts program and lead where relevant.

As part of the same project, Town Square was also commissioned to create new identities for Wyndham Cultural Centre Theatre and Wyndham Art Gallery.

Wyndham Cultural Centre Theatre logo is inspired by the proscenium arch feature of the theatre. The expression gives the illusion of dimension, drawing the eye to the wordmark within.

The Wyndham Art Gallery logo represents both the ‘W’ for Wyndham and quotation marks, symbolising the amplification of voices and dialogue between artist, art and public created by the Gallery. This design seamlessly integrates both elements, creating a clear and intuitive connection to Creative Wyndham while reinforcing the gallery’s role as a platform for artistic expression.

All three brands are unified by a type system that creates consistency and cohesion across the arts portfolio while allowing each brand to have its own defining character and personality.
